⛓️ Blockchain? All just hot air, right?

Use Blockchain where it makes sense. Most people still don't understand the actual use case of this technology.

I know that sounds like a bold statement to make, but we see it every day and it's incredible with what empty claims businesses are able to raise funds: a few years ago with Blockchain/Web3 - now with A.I. (but let's talk about this on another day).

This is just a monthly newsletter, we will never sell your data nor spam you with empty content. If you know someone interested in real Blockchain use cases, then send them this link please.

Why does Blockchain exist & what is it?

In its simplest form Blockchain enables you to own and transact digital assets across the globe. These assets can be cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, dollar-pegged assets like USDT or digital art called "NFTs" (Non-fungible-tokens).

This thought around ownership originates from the financial crisis 2008, when people were fed up with trusting banks or other intermediaries. The Blockchain in today's form has been born.

To keep it easy to digest this time: Most of the time when Blockchain is not utilized to remove the trust assumption between one or more parties, then it probably doesn't make much sense (or at least is a good idea to be more critical).

👪 Teaching kids to develop their own Web3 apps

There is not doubt that Blockchain can be intimidating even to highly experienced software engineers. Who wouldn't be?

So, we've decided to do another technical workshop over 5 days this August teaching kids about developing their own smart contracts and "DApps" (decentralized apps, basically websites talking with the blockchain).

First of all, huge respect to all the 14 kids aged between 10-15 years that spent one full week of their summer time with Blockchain!

Secondly, we were stunned what the kids were able to achieve in just a few days with most not having any prior Web3 experience. We've seen projects such as:

• On-chain lotteries with complex frontends/websites where users would win NFTs or tokens that have been created by the kids as well! You can imagine the creativity the kids had with designing their NFTs ("Non-fungible tokens" = digital, unique art).

• Web3 games (play2earn), from tower defense to simple fighting games.

• Digital bank account to manage digital assets (= NFTs) such as your digital motorbike for example!

• and many more cool & incredible projects!
